Andrew, James, John, Phillip, Barthelemeu, Jude, Thomas, Matthew, James the Less, Simon, Judas Iscariot, and Peter -- hand-chosen by a charismatic Jewish preacher to complete a daunting mission: tell no less than the entire world about God's plan for salvation. But controversy surrounded the group, considered by many to be an outlaw cult. Facing persecution and death, the twelve men risked their lives building the foundation for what would become a world-wide religion. Billions of believers have come to revere the courage and perseverance of Christianity's founding fathers, the Twelve Apostles. Associating with Jesus is a dangerous decision; however Jesus was upfront with his disciples and told them that following him would not be a safe decision, saying that anyone willing to follow him must deny themselves and take up their cross. Andrew was a fisherman from the rural town of Capernaum. He was just your average guy working the family business. He wasn't especially religious and yet Jesus invited Andrew to follow him. After Christ's death and resurrection, Andrew spread the Gospel throughout Russia and Greece, where he was later crucified. Andrew hung upon the cross for three days, suffering unimaginable pain but continuing to tell the people around him about the love of Jesus Christ.
